On World Diabetes Day, Dexcom set out to challenge the isolation and invisibility felt by millions living with diabetes by creating space for the community to be truly seen.
Discover What You’re Made Of invited people around the world to share their stories and step forward as advocates, transforming awareness into participation. The campaign culminated in a global storytelling experience that celebrated resilience, identity, and the lives people build beyond their diagnosis.
At its heart was a striking visual metaphor. Innovative dual-portrait photography revealed each advocate in a traditional portrait and fully immersed in what they love. The technique captured a simple truth. Diabetes is part of their story, but it does not define them.
Featuring diverse voices from five countries alongside celebrities Retta and Lance Bass, the campaign created a digital destination where the diabetes community could see themselves reflected, validated, and inspired.
In just days, thousands engaged, shared, and took action. Discover What You’re Made Of did more than raise awareness. It helped shift the narrative from condition to strength and from visibility to belonging.
