Aegis Living Lake Union- Interior Design

Aegis Living Lake Union is an award-winning assisted living and memory care community in Seattle, Washington, designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects. Inspired by the University of Washington's 1936 Olympic gold medal-winning rowing team and Seattle's rowing heritage, the project incorporates references to rowing shells, water movement, and local history throughout its architecture and interiors.
The 73,182-square-foot community features assisted living and memory care residences, dining venues, a fitness center, salon, cinema, rooftop gathering spaces, and dedicated memory care environments. Distinctive design elements, including a double-height lobby with a cascading waterfall, a suspended Pocock racing shell, custom artwork and patterns inspired by rowing, and murals honoring the historic Olympic team, create a strong sense of place and connection to the surrounding community.
Natural materials, expansive windows, rooftop gardens, plant walls, and views of Lake Union, the Seattle skyline, and the Olympic Mountains contribute to a wellness-focused environment designed to foster engagement, comfort, and daily connection.
As the first assisted living and memory care community to achieve Living Building Challenge Petal Certification, Aegis Living Lake Union combines innovative design, sustainability, and resident-centered living. The project has been recognized with the ULI Americas Award for Excellence, the AIA Design for Aging Review Award, and the Senior Housing News Gold Medal for Best Assisted Living Design.
