When I joined CareDx, our market presence reflected a traditional diagnostics mindset: clinically precise, yet fragmented—positioned around individual lab tests rather than the lived transplant journey. My work was to rethink the entire foundation. I led the development of a holistic, portfolio‑level positioning that reframed CareDx as a partner in the transplant journey, not simply a diagnostics provider. This was grounded in extensive insights work—ATUs across core organ areas and deep qualitative exploration with clinicians, coordinators, and patients—to understand not only how stakeholders described transplant, but how they felt navigating it.
What made this original was the integration of consumer‑brand discipline into a field that seldom applies it. Borrowing from my experience in both B2B and CPG, I introduced a brand architecture that is simple, intuitive, emotionally resonant, and flexible—a structure that reduces complexity without diluting scientific rigor. We codified a creative system that is distinct and ownable, yet adaptable across audiences, organs, and future innovations. In a category prone to verbosity, we prioritized clarity and humanity.
Equally novel was the approach to organizational design. I restructured the marketing function to ensure each business area had true subject‑matter depth and clear accountability. This wasn’t just a reorg; it was the creation of a system that enables future leaders to operate with consistency, insight, and strategic coherence.
Ultimately, the originality lies not in one campaign or one message, but in building an enduring foundation—one that unites research, creative, and operational structures so that the brand can grow without losing its center. The work is intentionally built to outlast any single leader. It offers the organization a platform that can absorb new products, new markets, and new people, while preserving a coherent identity rooted in patient centricity and meaningful innovation.
