Project Description:
Palpa is a groundbreaking FemTech solution that leverages Augmented Reality (AR) to revolutionize breast self-examination (BSE). While early detection is critical for women’s health, many individuals feel overwhelmed by clinical instructions or uncertain about their self-examination techniques. Palpa bridges this gap by transforming a complex medical protocol into an intuitive, guided, and empowering digital experience.

The Innovation: Spatial Visualization & Real-time Guidance
At the core of Palpa is its proprietary spatial visualization engine. Unlike traditional video tutorials, Palpa utilizes AR to project real-time, step-by-step instructions directly onto the user’s physical context. This "on-body" guidance system assists users in performing precise palpation, ensuring they understand exactly where and how to examine. By visualizing the examination path through the lens of a smartphone, Palpa eliminates the spatial disorientation and anxiety typically associated with BSE, turning a stressful task into a confident routine.

Personalized Healthcare Intelligence
Palpa goes beyond generic guidance by tailoring the experience to the individual. The system customizes examination protocols based on user-specific data, including age, menstrual cycle stage, and breast health history. This ensures that the guidance is medically relevant to the user’s biological rhythm, maximizing the effectiveness of the screening.

Data-Driven Feedback and Long-Term Monitoring
Every session culminates in a comprehensive visual report. Utilizing color-coded indicators, the app highlights areas of concern and tracks changes over time. This allows users to capture potential issues in real-time, maintain a historical health record, and facilitate more informed conversations with healthcare professionals.

Impact and Future Vision
Extensive user studies indicate that Palpa’s AR integration significantly enhances user engagement and frequency of self-exams. By reducing the learning curve of medical procedures through immersive technology, Palpa fosters a proactive culture of preventive health. It represents a new frontier in healthcare design—where sophisticated spatial computing meets empathetic, human-centric solutions to improve global health outcomes.
