In 2019, Drury Design teamed with Emergent BioSolutions, makers of the overdose reversal drug NARCAN Nasal Spray. Our first projects for the account were primarily internal video campaigns to engage and educate staff on this newly acquired product and its potential to help those affected by opioid overdose. At this time, the Drury team on this account consisted of Peter Bavoso (Account Manager), Liana Rosario (Executive Producer), and Rob Guizio (Creative Director). Our client was Chris Ginocchetti (Advisor, Marketing & Commercial Operations, Emergent).
As the relationship progressed and Chris saw more of our capabilities in video storytelling and production, we began to work on public-facing projects, including their "The 1 Before 911" campaign. Our contribution was a series of videos featuring interviews with real people who received/administered NARCAN Nasal Spray, as well as dramatic reenactments of their stories. We worked with the client to evolve the look and feel of these videos using motion graphics. Illustrator Gonzalo Ferrer was tapped to develop the hand-drawn style of the reenactments, and video director/editor Danny Bellini integrated them in cinematic style.
In the last two years, our team helped Emergent develop two of its most successful digital series. For the first, we leveraged our growing library of visual assets to create dynamic and impactful videos educating the public on how to use NARCAN. Drury art director Fallon Kesicier created the visual identity, taking inspiration from emergency posters seen in hospitals or restaurants. The second campaign was an award-winning “Man on the Street” interview series, which saw Bellini prompting New Yorkers for their thoughts on NARCAN and the opioid crisis. The series is ongoing, but past installments are currently some of the most viewed videos on the NARCAN YouTube channel.
Thanks to this team’s our collaborative spirit, the account has grown by leaps and bounds. Most importantly, it has contributed to awareness of NARCAN Nasal Spray and, by extension, aided a major win in the fight against the opioid epidemic: Recently the CDC reported a nearly 24% decline in drug overdose deaths in the U.S. since 2023.
